Tiivistelmä
Quality is one of the common characteristics of successful organizations. Lean Six Sigma is a quality development methodology that aims for continuous improvement. In Lean Six Sigma two quality development methodologies, Lean and Six Sigma, operate in synergy for smoother processes and to increase the quality.
In the pharmaceutical industry there is a trend for companies to move towards a global supply chain management process. Due to this changing environment the number of technology transfers may also be larger. Traditionally Lean Six Sigma has been utilized in production related processes. The aim of this thesis is to find out the benefits that could be achieved using Lean Six Sigma methods in developing a pharmaceutical industry technology transfer process.
The fundamental tools and methods of Lean and Six Sigma are presented in this thesis as well as the basic information behind the pharmaceutical industry technology transfers. A model for implementing Lean Six Sigma in technology transfers projects was created. The feasibility of Lean Six Sigma methods was analyzed through technology transfer project cases. While the implementation of Lean Six Sigma was seen to provide promising results, further research is required for more significant conclusions.
