Tiivistelmä
With the advancement of cloud computing, organizations have begun to migrate from on-premises to the cloud. Although the cloud has beneficial in terms of its features, recognizing the challenges and risks in the cloud is worth understanding. Migration to the cloud is a process that is possible to be performed by using various cloud migration strategies and processes. Numerous studies show that aspects of costs, security, compatibility, and performance differ in cloud migration strategies.
In this thesis, cloud migration strategies are assessed to understand how utilizing the strategies affect the migrated asset. The benefits and challenges of each aspect of cloud migration are described using research from literature reviews. From the research findings, a cloud migration strategy assessment framework is presented and validated.
The point of the framework is to recognize the attributes that are affected in cloud migration strategies from a technological and business perspective. The outcome of the conducted study provides organizations with an assessment tool that can be utilized in future cloud migration projects.
