Tiivistelmä
In recent years, there has been a surge of global interest in learning Korean as a foreign language. The reasons for learning Korean are varied, including opportunities for study, employment, personal enrichment, communication, and travel. The enormous global popularity of Korean music (K-pop) and dramas is one factor contributing to this trend. Motivation is an important aspect of language learning, as it influences learners' dedication and persistence. Motivation plays a crucial role in successful learning, according to research in foreign language education. Given the importance of motivation, understanding students' motivations for learning Korean is critical for curriculum development and instructional materials. While previous research has focused on the motivations of Asian students, no research has been conducted on the motivations of Korean language learners in Finland. The purpose of this study is to determine Korean language learners' motivation in Finland and how learners maintain their motivation to learn Korean when they face learning challenges.
